John Jerome Bouthilet, 96, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 25, 2012, at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in Houston, Texas. He was born July 17, 1916, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to the late George and Eva (Fee) Bouthilet. On October 29, 1943, he married the former Mary A. Revord, and together our parents enjoyed 65 years of mutual love and companionship. Dad was a 1939 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army during WWII, and later enjoyed a long career as a financial executive at National Presto Industries and the Mississippi Research and Development Center in Jackson. In 2003 our parents moved to Houston, TX, where they spent their final years.
He and our mother had a true zest for life and made lasting friendships wherever they lived. He was a long-time member of Colonial Country Club in Jackson and played golf several times a week well into his mid 80s. A native Wisconsinite, he followed the Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball teams and was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, having attended his first Packers game 80 years ago this fall.
He is survived by his children Paul (Kirby) Bouthilet of Green Bay, WI, Mary (Ron) Evans of Bellaire, TX, and Greg (Lana) Bouthilet of The Woodlands, TX. He is also survived by six grandsons, Andrew (Amy) Bouthilet, Alex (Nancy) Bouthilet, Sean Patrick and Ryan Evans, and Kyle and Robert Bouthilet, as well as by two great-grandsons, Clay and Bennett Bouthilet.
He was preceded in death by our mother, his parents, one brother, Paul, and a sister, Catherine.
Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
