Funeral services for Joseph Buford Ardoin, 82, of Killeen will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Interment will take place in Killeen City Cemetery. Mr. Ardoin died Feb. 4, 2010.
He was born June 19, 1927, in Vidrine, La., to Sidney and Christine Ardoin. He was raised in Pine Prairie, La., and graduated with the class of '47 of Pine Prairie High School.
He retired Nov. 30, 1969, from the United States Army with more than 21 years of service. He was awarded with six good conduct medals, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation and Army Commendation Medal.
He moved to Killeen in 1965, where he was a member of the Lions Club, VFW, and president of Twin Lakes Bass Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sigrid Harriet Ardoin; son, Mitchell A. Ardoin of Whitehouse; daughter, Brinda Lee Williams, of Fayetteville, N.C.; sisters, Bertha Topolanek and Abadie Ardoin both of New Orleans, La.; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anneliese Ardoin, who died June 16, 1991.
