Jack W. Crabb, 80, passed away August 17, 2013. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 22nd from 10:00-11:00 AM with a Masonic Service at 11:00 AM and the funeral service to follow at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCKS. Entombment will follow services at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Shriners Hospital for Children in care of Abdallah Shrine Temple, 5300 Metcalf Ave., Shawnee Mission, KS 66202.
Jack was born to Ernest and Minnie Crabb on April 3, 1933. He grew up in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Wyandotte High School. While in high school, Jack was in the band and held 1st chair as a trumpet player. He was awarded a full ride scholarship to Kansas University for music but chose to join the Navy and give his scholarship to the next student. He served in the United States Navy as a Seabee. He served in the Korean War while enlisted. After his time in the Navy, Jack worked for BPU as a Mechanical Supervisor for 32 years. In his spare time, he loved to do things outdoors. His hobbies included waterskiing, boating, fishing, dancing, riding motorcycles, and driving his Corvette. Jack was a member of the Dwight Cowles American Legion Post 370, the Stanley Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, the Abdallah Shrine, Tin Lizzies, and later joined the Escorts.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Marcia; daughters Kathy Sprouse and Kelly Jo Crabb and the mother of his children, Dee Gaupp.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Overland Park Nursing and Rehab for the wonderful compassion and care they showed Jack during his stay there.
