Jack "Bud" Steward, 83, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born January 6, 1929, in East St. Louis, Illinois, passed away, Sunday, December 2, 2012, in Belleville, Illinois.
Mr. Steward was a graduate of Old Central Catholic High School in 1947, and retired from the National Stock Yards as a livestock buyer. He loved to deer and turkey hunt with his son and sons-in-law. He was an avid fan of the Cardinals, Blues, and Rams. He helped coach an American Legion baseball team in East St. Louis, and after moving to Fairview Heights, coached Khoury League teams. He was a member of Gothic Lodge 852, AF & AM. He was an avid student of the Civil War and all American history.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Michael and Steven "Sput" Steward; and his parents, Frank and Billie, nee Heavins, Steward.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Rose Marie Steward, nee Kinney, his daughters, Marcia Steward, of Frankfurt, Ill., Carol (Mark) Belleville, of Fairview Heights, Ill., Mary Kay (Tim) Svoboda, of Glen Carbon, Ill., Peggy (Brian Strong) Steward, of Belleville, Ill.; his grandchildren, Jim, Matt, Sara, Josh, Lauren, Lindsey, Kelly, Joey, Amy, Carrie, Katie, and Ian; and many great grandchildren.
