Everyone's life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Jaime B. Agapay was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Jaime will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Jaime's life journey began on May 27th, 1929. He first greeted the world in Polangui, Albay, Philippines. His parents' names were Ramon S. Agapay Sr. and Consuelo Balana Agapay. He was raised in Polangui with five siblings named Rosaly A. Salalima, Emilio Agapay (deceased), Josefina A. Sandrino (deceased), Amparo A. Delapaz and Ramon Agapay Jr.
Many things change when a person becomes old enough to go to high school; Jaime was no different. He was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He attended and graduated from Albay High School in 1949. After high school, he later attended University of the East in Manila, Philippines where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1953.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Jaime experienced that with his sweetheart Norma L. Aguilar.
Jaime exchanged wedding vows with Norma on January 3rd, 1963. The wedding ceremony was held at Malate Catholic Church in Manila City. Through showing each other empathy and loyalty, they shared many loving years of marriage.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Jaime worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Jaime was blessed with three children, Jaybee, Nenette and Tec- Tec. He worked hard toward raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Jaime enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Jaime worked diligently and did his best to succeed in each of his jobs. Years ago, Jaime worked as an accountant/ internal auditor for an Acetylene company. He held this position from 1954 to 1974. He later switched career paths and became a college instructor for Aquinas University for the years of 1976 to 1994. Later in life, Jaime chose to work for Sycuan Casino in the Environmental Services Department. He was employed from 2003 to 2009.
Though Jaime didn't work for accolades, he was recognized for a job well done. During his employment at Sycuan Casino, Jaime was given the honor of receiving the award for "Service Excellence".
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Jaime enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including bowling, coaching soccer and gardening. Jaime was also fortunate enough to receive awards for his favorite pastimes. He would always win trophies in bowling for best overall individual and high scores. His love for gardening was also apparent by the awards he won back in his hometown. He won "Best Farmer" in Polangui, Albay, Philippines.
A person's faith says a great deal about them. Some people are raised with strong beliefs while others garner them throughout their life. Jaime's faith was important to him. Jaime was a devoted Catholic. He served for the Knights of Columbus Polangui Chapter as Secretary Treasurer from 1978 to 1981.
Sadly, Jaime Agapay left us on March 26th, 2011. He passed away at Sharp Hospice Care Park View Home.
