James Myron Aldrich, 82, of Davenport, died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Genesis West. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 1:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Scott County Humane Society or to the Handicapped Development Center.

Jim was born April 29, 1928 in Davenport, the son of Myron and Irene (Dreyer) Aldrich. He was united in marriage to Elaine Irmen in August 1949 in Davenport. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He retired from Swan Engineering in the tool and dye department after many years of service. He was a member of the Roosevelt Masonic Lodge. James loved being outdoors and gardening. Jim was a family man whose favorite thing was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. In his earlier years, he enjoyed spending time at his cabin on the Wapsi River. He was always eager to help others and will fondly be remembered for doing things, "His way."
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Elaine, daughter; Linda Furman, grandsons: Mark, Michael and Nick Furman; sisters: Judy Miller and Dorothy Reis, all of Davenport; three nephews and two nieces.
His parents and a brother, Lester preceded him in death.
