Mr. Bergin, 84, of Charlotte, NC passed away Monday, December 24, 2012. He was born September 1, 1928 in Rochester, NY, a son of the late James A. and Mary Powers Bergin.
Mr. Bergin was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University and a Korean War veteran having attained the rank of Captain in the U. S. Marine Corps.
His family includes his wife, Sandra Pletcher Bergin; six children, Gail Jones, Sue Bernstein, J.P. Bergin, Chris Bergin, Erin Finney and Sandy Moore; and two stepsons, G. Alex O'Hara and Jeffrey O'Hara; as well as his sister, Doris Snyder.
His first wife, Connie Bergin, and his brother, Honorable Eugene Bergin, preceded him in death.
A service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 31st at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
