James N. Davis SR., 72, of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, Feb 5, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 7, 1940 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Evelyn (Freese) Davis. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1959 and worked in Quality Control at Zollner Piston for 42 years. He married Caroline Eloph on Aug. 25, 1962, she survives. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church. Also surviving are daughter, Teresa (Kim) Johnson of Auburn; sons, James N. (Susan) Davis, Jr., Jonathan I. Davis and Joseph A. Davis all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Wynona and Dakota Johnson, Tony Vance and Sonja (Rob) Poynter; great grandchildren, Dakota and Kelsey Poynter; and brother, Sylvester (Delores) Davis of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Gene and Leonard ; and sister, Delores. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church with Father Mark Gurtner officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home. Burial in Catholic Cemetery. Preferred memorials to the Heart Association or Diabetes Association.
