Sergeant James Milton Fleming, age 36, of Colorado Springs, CO (Fort Carson) completed his mission on earth and went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 2, 2013 in Colorado Springs, CO. He leaves behind his wife, Lauren, and their three children, Meaghan Ashley, Aaron James (A.J.), and Joshua Everett Fleming. He is survived by his parents, James F. and Pamela Hays Fleming of Memphis. He leaves behind his sisters, Lisa M. Craig (Ken) of Sparta, TN, and Jennifer Fleming Fisher (Mark) of Bartlett, TN; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. James E. Fleming, Jr. of Marked Tree, AR; his maternal aunt, Clora J. Hays (Aunt Jackie) of Memphis, TN; paternal aunt, Annabelle Akers (Tom) of Heber Springs, AR; cousins, Brian Akers of Heber Springs, AR and Kevin Akers (Tracy) of Jacksonville, MO.; three nieces, Lauren Craig, Brittany Fisher, and Lauren Fisher as well as three nephews, Jonathan Craig, Marvin Loft IV, and Wyatt Fisher; as well as many friends and other family members. Sgt. Fleming, "Jimmy", was a graduate of White Station High School in Memphis, TN where he played high school football. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and had successfully completed four tours of Iraq the 2003 Operation Iraqi Freedom campaign with the Second Brigade; III ID Ft. Stewart Georgia; and two additional tours with the III ID Ft. Stewart and one tour with IV ID Fort Carson, Colorado. Sgt. Fleming, "Jimmy", was truly a leader and a gentle giant. He was filled with compassion, strength, and a deep concern for others. He was deeply loved by his military families at Ft. Stewart and Ft. Carson. Jimmy, Lauren, and their family are truly an inspiration to others because of their close walk with the Lord. The family wishes to thank their many friends and family for their love and support for Jimmy during his deployments, time at home, and during this time of loss. We have truly lost a great soldier who was also an amazing husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, and brother-in-law. Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Ave. is handling all arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday, March 9 at noon followed by the funeral services at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery on Elvis Presley Blvd. The information for Memorials will be forthcoming shortly.
