James “Richard” Hahn was born September 28, 1963 in Odessa, Texas to Nicky & Jhynelda Hahn. Richard grew up in Odessa and graduated from Permian High School in 1982 where he served as Equipment Manager in the “Marching Mojo Band”. He attended Odessa College and earned an Associate Degree in HVAC. Richard spent most of his life working in the heating and air conditioning field and as a rig electrician. He was a “jack-of-all-trades” and could fix just about anything. He was never more than a phone call away for his family, friends, church members and sometimes people he didn’t even know. Richard was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He spent countless hours as a youth and adult working at the Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch and many of the buildings and projects at the ranch have his prints on them. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid gun collector, loved to cook and was especially proud of his back yard garden. Richard was a member of Mid-Cities Community Church where he served as an usher, worked in the nursery and could be seen working on projects and fixing equipment around the church. Richard lived a “servant” life, touched an incredible number of people during his time here on earth and will be greatly missed.
Richard was preceded in death by his parent, Nicky and Jhynelda Hahn. Those left to cherish his memory are his son Joey Hahn of The Colony, Texas; daughters Julie Hahn of Odessa and Jamie Roberge and husband Phil of Cache, Oklahoma; brother Charles Hahn and wife Pat of Vicksburg, Mississippi; nieces Nicky, Emily and Rebecca Hahn; nephew William Hahn; grandmother Eloise Hahn; grandchildren Lucy Robin and Ryan Tyler and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation with the family is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating Richard’s life will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Mid-Cities Community Church.
