James (Jimmy) H. McKinney, 71, of Cross Lanes passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his residence.
He was born March 12, 1943 a son of the late James H. McKinney, Sr. and Ida Mae Latlip McKinney Dent. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Lee McKinney.
Jimmy was a 1962 graduate of Charleston Catholic High School. He was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War, a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 625, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 519, and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Charleston.
Surviving is one son, James “Boom” McKinney III and his wife Suzanne of Cross Lanes, one step daughter Carmen Lilly of St. Albans, one step son Patrick Lilly of St. Albans, three granddaughters, Cameo McKinney, Kayla Lilly, and Taylor Lilly, two brothers Dennis McKinney and his wife Elizabeth of Charleston, Ronald McKinney and his wife Vickie of Tornado, and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be Friday, August 22, 2014 at 11am at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1000 6th St. with Rev. James Kurtz, OFM Cap. officiating. Burial with military graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
Visitation will be Thursday 6-8pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 420 Lee St. West.
