James Ramsay Stewart M.D.,55, of Palmhurst, Texas died peacefully at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, Texas on March 19th, 2013. He was born on March 4th, 1958 in Gallipolis, Ohio. He graduated the Pennsylvania State University Magna Cum Laude in 1980, where he received the Eisenhower Award for academic excellence. He was a graduate of Southwestern Medical School at University of Texas, graduating with honors in 1984. He performed his residency in Internal Medicine at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He practiced medicine in the Public Health Service in New Mexico followed by several years in practice in Henderson, Nevada before settling in the McAllen, Texas area. He was named Top Doctor based on peer nomination from U.S. News and World Report. He was a physician at McAllen Primary Care for several years and operated his own practice until his demise. James was devoted to his patients and served as President of the Hidalgo Star Medical Society for two years. His hobbies included travel, cooking, gardening, music, and motorcycling. He is survived by his father, Kenneth H. Stewart, his brothers Kenneth E. Stewart and John M. Stewart, all of Lexington, Kentucky as well as his sister Leslie A. Scott of Spotsylvania, Virginia. His mother, Donna C. Stewart (Carroll) is deceased.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 12 noon until 2 p.m., the hour of services, on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg with Rev. Chad Bogdewic officiating followed by burial at Rosemont Cemetery at Rogersville.
