TOBIAS, James L. 80, of Kettering, passed away Sunday June 23rd after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 58 years Jane I Tobias, who died May 27th. Jim is survived by his daughter Linda Lamb, son Larry Tobias, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Jim was born August 2, 1932 in Dayton Oh. to Bernice and Howard "Russ" Tobias. He graduated from Patterson Co-Op high school in 1950. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He joined the Kettering Police Department in 1955, graduated from the FBI National Academy in 1975, and retired in 1983 as a Lieutenant. Jim went on to work for the Tobias Funeral Home until retiring again in 2005. He was a life member of VFW Post 9927. Jim enjoyed spending time camping, fishing, and swapping lies at Stillwater Beach Camp Ground near Bradford, OH. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 4 to 6 pm at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME, Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd.
