Jean Barham

October 25, 1931 - August 19, 2012
Jean Barham passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, after a 12-year courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday in Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Barnabas United Methodist Church, 5011 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington, Texas 76016, or a charity of choice.

Jean was born in Dallas on Oct. 25, 1931, the second daughter of Manley and Clara Jones. She was raised in Dallas and Oak Cliff and graduated from Sunset High School in 1948. She received her B.A. degree in journalism from the University of North Texas in 1952. Jean married her high school sweetheart, Richard, in 1952. They had three daughters. Jean loved children and taught kindergarten for 12 years. She was a life member of the Texas PTA and was also very active in her church.

Thanks to the Odyssey Hospice and to those who furnished daily care from Home Instead Senior Care. In particular, thanks to Telisa, Pam, Linda, Arnedria, Maureen, Paul, Debbie and many others too numerous to mention. Because of you, Jean had a life of dignity until her call home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ. We will miss her greatly.

Survivors: Her husband of 60 years, Richard H. Barham; daughters, Julie Sherrell and her husband, Ray, Jeanie Hodde and her husband, Chris, and Jill Daiber; seven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
