Jerome Marvin Aldag, age 81, former chairman of the board of Aldag Honold Mechanical, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2011, surrounded by his loving wife and children, after a brief battle with cancer.
Jerry was born November 19, 1929 in Sheboygan to Marvin and Daisy (Jackson) Aldag.
Following graduation from Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1949, he continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Certification in Professional Engineering. Jerry's father, Marvin, was founder of Aldag Sheet Metal Works, a business that grew under the direction of Jerry, eventually combining with the R.P. Honold Co. Jerry enhanced his profession by serving on the Joint Apprenticeship Committee at Lakeshore Technical College. He served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserve, attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
On May 4, 1957 Jerome married Sally Mahnke of Sheboygan. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1969 at the age of 34.
Mr. Aldag was a member of the First United Lutheran Church, the Wisconsin and National Society of Professional Engineers, Sheboygan Yacht Club, Pine Hills Country Club, Sheboygan Elks Lodge # 299, and Duck's Unlimited.
He formerly served as president and Governor of the Sheboygan Kiwanis Club. In 1992, Jerry was honored by receiving the Firstar Small Business Man of the Year Award of Sheboygan County.
On July 10, 1970 Jerry married Patricia Schmidt. In addition to his wife Patricia, Jerry is survived by children, Dave ( Kelly) Aldag and their children, Brad and Chloe; Heidi (James) Testwuide and their children, Amanda, Marlo and Jamie; Timothy (Robyn)Aldag and their children, Stephanie and Carly; Jessica Aldag (Daniel) Hernandez; Terri (Kevin) Stewart and their children, Taryn and Ryan; Tammi Dvorak and her children, Natalie and Lindsey; Todd Hill and his daughter, Alexandria; and J. Christopher(Tanya) Aldag and their children, Zachary and Jacob; a brother, Kenneth Aldag; and other family members.
Jerome was preceded in death by Sally; his parents; and a sister, Sylvia Siefert.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Todd W. Smith, Pastor of First United Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will take place in Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn Chapels on Wednesday (TODAY) from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in his name for Pine Haven Christian Home.
Jerry will always be remembered for the close relationship shared with his employees. His greatest enjoyment was spending time together as a family, boating, sailing and downhill skiing.
