Jerry Leemar McDaniels

January 15, 1942 - November 18, 2012
Jerry L. McDaniels, 70, an 18 year resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012. He was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and served in the United States Army during Korea. Jerry retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad after 25 years of service and relocated to Las Vegas, where he continued to work for ETT Slots as a change attendant. Jerry belonged to the Navy Club of the United States of American, Ship 245. He spent a lot of time with his grandson, Zack, enjoyed fishing when he could find the time, as well as, gambling. Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Adriane McDaniels; mother, Elenora; step-father, Melvin "Bud" Aker; and brother Melvin Aker. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean; son Jerry (Connie) McDaniels, Jr., of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Lora (Tom) Hurley, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandchildren - Zachary and Ashley Hurley; brothers, Ronald and Victor McDaniels, and Danny Aker; sisters: Cinda Woods, Melody Konger, and Sherry Van Osdale, all of the Fort Wayne area; and Aunt Phyllis Lesh of Huntington, Indiana. Memorial Services to be in Fort Wayne, Indiana at a later time and date.
