ALLEN, Joe DorrisAge 79, passed away February 3, 2011. A Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Hermitage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 4, 2011 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service at the Hermitage Funeral Home. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lafayette and Nola Williams Allen. He is survived by his wife, Verda Hudson Allen; son, Jeffrey Joe Allen; sisters, Margaret Pyle and Irene Higgins; 2 grandchildren, Blake and Betsy Allen. Mr. Allen was a native of Nashville and a graduate of Issac Litton High School. He retired from Alley-Cassetty Company and the U.S. Army. He was also a Licensed general contractor and a proud member of the National Commodore Club for over 30 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nashville Rescue Mission.
