Age 82, of Kettering, Ohio, passed on to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2012. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years Nancy (Behnken) Raby and his beloved children Karla (Thomas) Gebbie, Ronald (Sharon) Raby, Barbara (Ralph) Gigliotti, Lori Raby Walker; and a sister Marjorie Bodine. He enjoyed 5 grandchildren Lindsey Simmons, Christiana Raby, Cassandra Raby, Thomas Gigliotti, Luke Walker, and 11 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Orville and Rayma Raby, and his son-in-law Michael Simmons. A graduate of General Motors Institute (GMI), Flint MI, class of 1953 with a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Joe began his career with GM, Moraine, while in a co-op program with GMI, and continued with GM until 1958. He was employed by Apex Machine and Tool for 33 years where he served as the Vice President for many years. In 1966, Joe and his wife Nancy founded AMCO Products, Inc., a screwdriver manufacturing company that provided employment for many in the Dayton area for over 45 years. Joe appreciated every employee who teamed with him through the years. He served as the CEO of AMCO until 2011 and continued as a consultant until his death. Joe was a longtime member of the Dayton Engineer's Club and various engineering societies, including NAM, OMA, SME. Joe was an advocate of local business and supporter of Dayton area Chambers of Commerce. He was a believer in education and was a mentor and friend to many people during his life. He is loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Visitation Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Tobias Funeral Home – Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45429. Pastor David Kisner will officiate. Burial to follow at David's Cemetery, Kettering, Ohio.
