John Richard Alexander, Jr., 78, died on January 18, 2011 following a long illness. Born on September 24, 1932 in Landis, NC; he was the son of the late John R. and Margie Alexander, Sr. John served in the US Army and was a retiree of IBM, with over 25 years of employment.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sibylla R. Alexander, of Raleigh; son, John Michael Alexander and wife Sandra Marie, of Raleigh; sister, Norma Jane Messenger, of Charlotte, NC; and by other family and friends.
Services will be held in China Grove, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the John Alexander Endowment – NCSU Physical and Math Sciences Foundation, Inc. – Campus Box 8201 – Raleigh, NC 27695-8201 to support the study and research of environmental concerns.
