John was born on April 20, 1961 @ Westover Air-Force Base in Chicopee Ma. to John and Mildred (Barnes) Anderson, the youngest of five children. After the death of his mother in October 1962, he & his four siblings came with his Grandmother (Nana) Laura Shepard to live in Boston in 1963. He attended St. John's & St. Hugh's Elementary school, graduated Boston College High School in 1979 and attended MIT. Most recently, he was a Manager of Consulting Services for Intershop Communications out of San Francisco, California. He was an avid cyclist when he resided in Boston, studied Marshall Arts, like to play miniature golf, enjoyed reading, loved traveling & NPR radio; his hobbies included gaming & miniature F-1 racing; He had an exquisitely curious intellect, quick wit, and he loved to learn new things and could engage anyone on nearly any subject. John was very proud, and very stubborn; once his mind was made up rarely did he change it. He was however very thorough and thoughtful in his deliberations, so much so that he literally thought through almost any and every argument so he could defend his position. He was also fiercely loyal, loving, dedicated and devoted to his closest family and friends, to whom he would give the shirt off his back, or his last dime. He had been a confirmed bachelor up until meeting his beautiful and loving wife Kechi Iheduru and he became a devoted father to his young son Jason of whom he was so very proud. He threw himself wholeheartedly into family life.
John leaves to mourn his loving grandmother Laura B. Shepard; was a loving brother to his sister Gayle Hay, also Joann Ferguson, and to brothers Jeffrey, Gordon, Lawrence & Eric as well as a devoted, dedicated uncle to his nieces Kaliis, Kiah & Samantha Smith, Alexis Hay & Nia Ferguson, as well as to his nephews Gabriel & Matthew Smith & Adriel Ferguson; he also leaves behind his step-mother Inez Anderson, and grand nephew Judah, a brother-in-law Stephen Hay, as well as many dear friends. He was an adoring Husband to his wife Kechi who he nicknamed "gorgeous", and a caring loving stepfather to Obinna & Ogechi. His longtime loyal and devoted friend Thomas Patterson gave great comfort and strength to John and his family during his recent devastating illness. Our John was an intelligent, loving, kind, gracious & humorous gentle man. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
