John Douglas Anderson completed his all-too-brief time on this earth on the 29th of February, 2012. He was the youngest of the two sons of Ruth and Gordon Anderson, born - June 4th, 1961 in Los Angeles California.
Though having lived in other places in his youth, John virtually grew up in Westlake Village, CA where he participated in gymnastics, and youth tennis league. He also swam for the Village Homes swim team in the 70's. He was a good tennis player early on, and was seen often on the courts with his father at the Westlake Tennis and Swim Club.
He attended Park Elementary School, Colina Junior High, and graduated from Newbury Park High School with the class of 1979, where he also played on the school's tennis team. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge in 1986 majoring in Real Estate and Finance.
John was employed in the real estate profession and worked in the sale of fine jewelry which, over time, became one of his passions along with his genuine enthusiasm for good music and meaningful lyrics. John loved to dance. His moves on the dance floor were always the best of his family, and often the best in the room, no matter where he was.
His helpful and outgoing personality was noticed by those who invited him to work in the cruise ship industry. By taking advantage of that opportunity, he was able to "see the world " and make many new friends and acquaintances from around the planet during his tenure aboard ships in Europe and Latin America with the Princess and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. He also thoroughly enjoyed any opportunities he had to travel with his entire family or his parents.
Eventually, John returned to his hometown and took up residence in Westlake Village to be close enough to assist in his father's business endeavors. He enjoyed pleasant afternoons on his boat and could be seen driving through town in his convertible sports car.
He doted over his young niece and nephew and their photographs filled the walls of his comfortable home. He was always on hand to welcome family and friends who would come to visit from out of town.
He is survived by his Grandmother, Evelyn Anderson (102 yrs ) of Chico, CA, his parents, Ruth and Gordon Anderson, of Lake Sherwood, his brother Paul and sister-in-law Lily and their Children, Kalli and Corey, of Laguna Niguel, CA., and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins throughout the United States, and in Japan.
His physical presence will be missed by all who knew him but his genuine smile and enthusiasm will live in us all.
