John J. Babitz, age 56, died Monday morning, June 27, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay. For the past eleven years he lived at Compass Development Residence in Green Bay.
John was born March 8, 1955 in Sheboygan to Joseph and Claire (LaPointe) Babitz.
He is survived by three sisters, Connie Ruppenthal of Slinger; Elaine Babitz of Madison, and Stephanie Minerath of Dexter, Michigan; one nephew, Christopher Ruppenthal of Madison; three nieces, Amanda Ruppenthal Stein of Glendale, Rebecca Minerath of Chicago, and Emily Minerath of Madison; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Due to the construction at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2720 Henry Street, Sheboygan. Rev. Richard J. Cerpich will be the Celebrant with Deacon Michael F. Burch, Parish Director at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, assisting. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
John's family gratefully acknowledges Kevin LaPointe, Sean Cooley, Kara VanVanderen and the entire staff at Compass Development for the compassionate, tender, and loving care they provided him over the years. A special thank you also to Doreen Koehler of the Advocacy Program and supportive family friends, Florence Genson, Monica Archer, and Randy Meyer.
A memorial fund has been established in the name of John J. Babitz.
