John Albert Christie, Sr., 68, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. While surrounded by his loving family, John went home to be with the Lord, after a short, courageous battle with Leukemia. John was born December 10, 1944 in Passaic, NJ to John and Dorothy Christie. An only child, John spent his school day afternoons hanging around the East Rutherford fire station, until his mother would call for him to come home for supper. After moving to New Bern in 1989, John soon began work at CarolinaEast Medical Center as a Communications Officer, retiring in 2007. A man of faith, John always put God and family first and himself second. He was a very good and selfless man. He loved trains, all things fire department and the United States Coast Guard.
