John Bryan Cundiff, 95, of Terre Haute passed away on December 11, 2013. He was born on May 26, 1918 to Winston H. Cundiff and Hattie (Glenn) Cundiff. John served in the United States Army and was discharged in 1945. He was a Railroad Engineer for 40 years. He retired from Conrail in 1978. He was a member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church for 40 years, where he also sang in the choir. John was a lifetime member of the VFW #972 and Greater of Terre Haute Kiwanis's Club, where he was the Pancake Chairman. He enjoyed reading, traveling, his pets, and golfing.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Ruth (Bennett) Cundiff; second wife Martha K. Phillips-Huestis; third wife Ruth Anderson; daughter-in-law Cathy Cundiff; brother Winston H. Cundiff; sister Patricia A. Cundiff; and niece Claire Lewis. He is survived by his sons John B. Cundiff Jr. "JB", and Robert G. Cundiff (Colleen Sullivan); daughter Sarah E. Ewing (William); brother Thomas W. Cundiff (Maxine); grandchildren Rachel Goldman, Michael Cundiff, Emily Massey, Jordan Cundiff, Bill Cundiff (Beth), William Ewing, Martha Fuerst (Jacob), and Andrew Cundiff (Megan); 3 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday December 14, 2013 at 1:00p.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Pastor David Rockhill will be officiating.
