David, of Charlotte, was born in Fairmont, NC and graduated from Fairmont High School, soon after he joined the United
States Army where he served in Vietnam in 1968-1969. David was the second of three boys born to the late Gordon and Annie Lee. He is survived by his daughter Christy Railey, husband Richard, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his devoted brothers Kenneth Lee Sr, wife Martha and Ronnie ""Goat'' Lee. Also surviving are his nephew and friend Kenneth Lee Jr., along with countless comrades and friends at VFW Post 9488 where he was a Charter member and Lifetime member. David was deeply loved by his older brother Kenny who has devoted his life to taking care of his family. He was also cherished by his younger brother and often partner-in-crime Ronnie.
The trio moved to Charlotte where at one time all worked together at Davey Tree Company. David later worked 15 years for Charlotte Parks and Recreation. David was known as a jokester and the life of the party. We will forever love and remember him. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13th at the VFW Post 9488 at 2:00 p.m. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, all donations be made to helping our Veterans at VFW Post 9488, 2831 The Plaza, Charlotte, NC 28205.
