John Walker Ryon, III, 72, of Edison, N.J. and formerly of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at his residence.
Born in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late John Walker Ryon, Jr. and the late Helen Elert Ryon.
John received a BS in Theoretical Physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Stephens Institute of Technology and was a professor in Computer Science at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
He is survived by his son, John W. Ryon, IV of Edison, N.J.; one sister, Christine Ryon Eger of Dallas, TX; a niece, Jennifer Lynn Eger of Austin, TX and a nephew, Douglas Ryon Eger of Dallas, TX.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the Mausoleum Chapel at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
