Joseph Cazzolli, 92, of Solvay, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at home. He was born in Tione di Trento, Italy to the late Alessandro and Esther (Balestra) Cazzolli before immigrating to Solvay. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and recipient of the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. Joe was an iron worker at Local 60 for Solvay Iron Works and many years at Syracuse Rigging before retiring in 1984. He was a longtime member of the Tyrol Club of Solvay and communicant of St. Cecilia Church. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (Maestri) in 2013.
He is survived by a daughter; Nancy (Ed) Bellefeuille, of Onondaga Hill, 3 sons; Robert, of Syracuse, Mark (Lauri), of Camillus and John (Sharon), of Yardley, PA, 8 grandchildren; Chris (Emily), Dava, Michael (Morgan) Cazzolli, Gina (Jason) Roth, Alexander (Katie), Taryn, Paula and Nick Cazzolli, 3 great grandchildren; Brenna, Lucas and Adriana, a sister-in-law; Mary (Louis) Nicolini, of Camillus and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 8:45 am in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, and 9:30 am in St. Cecilia Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners.
Family and friends may call Monday, May 19, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave.
