Joseph J. D'Amore, Sr. 83, passed away Sunday at Crouse Hospital. A life resident of Syracuse he retired as a machine repairman after 40 years from Jamesville Quarry. Mr. D'Amore and his wife were very devoted parents and grandparents. He was the President of Local Union 12660 Steel Workers for 21 years. Mr. D'Amore was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church where he ushered. He was an active member of the VFW Jamesville Dewitt Post. Mr. D'Amore proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He is predeceased by his wife, Mafalda D'Amore in 2006 and his brother, Thomas D'Amore.
Joseph is survived by three daughters, Linda (Tim) Winterfield, Mary (Jeffrey) Burr and Christine (Tom) Knapp all of Syracuse; son, Joseph (Judith) D'Amore, Jr. of Syracuse; sister, Rose (John) Richards of North Carolina; brother, Anthony D'Amore; nine grandchildren and 4 four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 9 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Private calling hours will be held. PIRRO & SONS FUNERAL HOME is in care of arrangements.
