Joseph D. "Joe" Hooker, age 80 of Beavercreek, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucia Hooker, in 2006. He is survived by two sons: Jim Hooker (Carol) of Beavercreek and Michael Hooker (Tracey) of Toledo, as well as a daughter, Laura Rushford (Francis) of CA. Two grandchildren: Brandon Jones (Liz) and Francis Z. Rushford, as well as one great-granddaughter, Maria Lucia Jones, and two brothers: Billy Ulaskey and Bob Hendricks. Joe was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean era, serving aboard the USS Antietam. Following his service he attended Colorado State University on the GI Bill and received his engineering degree. He was employed as a mechanical engineer for more than 35 years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He was a member of the MG Car Club and the Austin-Healy Car Club. Joe's interests were varied and included World War II era airplanes and woodworking; he constructed much of the furniture in his home and provided fix-it services for his neighborhood for the fifty years he lived there. Friends may call at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – BEAVERCREEK Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 12 Noon until 2 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 PM on Wednesday. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery following the funeral.
