Joseph A. Martone, Jr., of Baldwinsville, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at home with his family by his side after a valiant fight with cancer, just 10 days shy of his 52nd birthday. Following his graduation from West Genesee High School, he attended trade school and became a career welder. Joe was a great cook and was most famously known for his sauce and meatballs. He catered meals for his father's VA blind veterans support group. Joe had a special connection to the Vets as his father is a decorated WWII veteran. Joe was a Harley motorcycle enthusiast, a lover of all animals, enjoyed fishing, building and remodeling, and traveling to his wife's hometown of Montreal. He was affectionately nicknamed Joe Mama by his friends as he always took care of everyone. Joe was predeceased by his mother, Ecla (D'Amato) Martone and his mother-in-law, Marcella Du-Tremble.
Joe is survived by his wife of 20 years, Nancy Martone (formerly Du-Tremble); his father Joseph Martone; father-in-law Jean Du-Tremble; sisters Maria (Rick) Filippi and Rita Pecoriello; brother, Ralph Martone; brothers-in-law, Marc Du-Tremble and Jean-Claude (Angie) Lalande; nieces, Christina and Julianna Filippi, Marie-Soleil Du-Tremble, Sabrina Lalande; nephews, Michael and Anthony Pecoriello and Kevin Lalande; and many extended family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 am Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Holy Family Church, Fairmount. Family and friends may call Friday, March 21, 2014, from 4 to 7 pm at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave.
