Joseph Scott Thomason, Jr., age 94 from Mt. Brook passed away on January 26, 2013.
He worked with his brother, Bobby Thomason at East Lake Auto Parts. He was a lifetime member of 1rst Presbyterian Church. He served on the Session for many years. He was a Shriner.
He is survived by his daughter, Dale Richmond (Frank); son, Jimmy Thomason; four granddaughters, Bobbye Ann Hoyt, Gemini Edwards, Kim Richmond Gregory, and Ashley Cummings; one grandson, Fred Stone; three great granddaughters, Nicole Cummings, Lizzie Gregory, and Kaylee Cummings; five great grandsons, Henry Hoyt, Scott Gregory, Noah Gregory, Micah Gregory, and Joseph Edwards; two great-great grandsons, Luke and Wyatt Gregory; one brother, Bob Thomason; three sisters, Minelle McNair, Elizabeth Traylor, and Dorothy Coleman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Grindle Thomason; two daughters, Landis Haynes and Joann Thomason; his mother, Dorothy Thomason; and father, Joe Thomason, Sr.
Visitation will be Tuesday January 29, 5:30-7:00 pm at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 30 at 2:00 pm at Elmwood Chapel with Shannon Webster officiating and burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thanks to New Beacon Hospice, Melanie and Cathy for the care they gave to Mr. Thomason. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to 1rst Presbyterian Church or Springville Presbyterian Church.
