Joshua Michael Abernethy, 24, passed away August 5, 2012 at Frye Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Joshua was born August 28, 1987 in Burke Co. to Charlie Abernethy and Michelle Clay Townsend.
He was preceded in death by mat/great grandmother, Joyce Duncan; mat/great grandfathers, Arris Rowe and Junior Duncan; pat/great grandparents, Harrison and Allie Abernethy, Letcher Warf and Vernon Warren.
He attended Winkler's Grove Baptist Church and was a self employed painter.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine Starnes Abernethy of the home; daughter, Kalli Abernethy of the home; parents, Michelle Clay Townsend and Scottie of Hickory, Charlie Abernethy and Ginger of Hildebran; mat/grandparents, Wayne and Debi Davis of Hickory and Michael & Patsy Clay of Winston Salem; pat/grandparents, Pete and Sharon Abernethy of Valdese and Dave and Brenda Fleming of Vale; brothers, Senior Airman, Jordyn and Katie Beth Townsend of Robbins, Ga, Chase Abernethy, Kendall Abernethy and Dusty Swanson of Hildebran; mat/great grandmother, Sarah Rowe of Hickory, Kendall Abernethy of Hildebran and Dusty Swanson of Hildebran, and pat/ great grandmother, Lucille Warren of Hickory; mother & father-in-law, Jimmy and Tonia Starnes of Taylorsville; very special great aunt and uncle, John & Pat Morris of Connelly Springs and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday, August 8, at 3:00 P. M. at Winkler's Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Faulkenbury and Reverend Paul Deal officiating.
Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:45 PM at the church.
