Julia Elise A. Boddiford
Julia Elise Arnett Boddiford, aged 91, of Sylvania, Georgia, died on Saturday, April 9, 2011.
Mrs. Boddiford was born on November 26, 1919 in Chatham County, Georgia. Her parents were Otis John & Sarah Amelia Robbins Arnett. She had four brothers. John Otis Arnett, Jr. was killed in World War II and Leigh DeKalb Arnett later died of complications of injuries that he received during World War II. Spencer Robbie Arnett and Gene Lewis Arnett are her surviving brothers.
Mrs. Boddiford attended Georgia Women's College in Milledgeville, Georgia. During World War II, Mrs. Boddiford worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. After the war, she returned to Sylvania and worked for the Telephone Company of Sylvania, GA. She married George Edward Boddiford, Jr. on November 11, 1948. They had three children, Edward, Sarah and Julie. While her children were growing up, Mrs. Boddiford stayed at home as a wife and mother to her family. Later, after her children were grown, she worked with her husband and after her husband's death, her son, at Feed, Seed and Farm Supplies. She was a very active member of Buck Creek United Methodist Church and the Buck Creek Homemaker's Club.
She is survived by her son and his wife, George Edward, III & Patricia L. Boddiford, and their two children, Christina Jane Boddiford and George Edward "Chip" Boddiford, IV. She is survived by two daughters and their families, Sarah N. & Bobby L. Boddiford and their son and his wife, Benjamin Chadwick "Chad" & Mary Helen Scott Boddiford and Julie B. & Martin Phillips and their two children, Amy Elizabeth Phillips and Travis Martin Phillips.
Visitation was held between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM with the funeral service immediately after visitation at Buck Creek United Methodist Church on April 12, 2011. Burial was at Screven County Memorial Cemetery in Sylvania, Georgia. Rev. Steve Purnell officiated at the service with Veronica Howard as the musician. Pallbearers were Fred Sowell, Robin Arnett, McQue Boddiford, David Boddiford, Joe Boddiford and Charlie Waters.
