I was deeply saddened to hear about Karl. I didn't find out until a few days ago when I took my dog to the vet. It had been about 2 years since Dr. Schmidt has treated Zoe. I loved him so much. He always made me feel better about any procedures that he had to do on my dog. He was a one of a kind man. Sweet, loving and compassionate. My dog is very ill now, and will probably not be with me much longer. Dr. Karl, please take care of my Zoe. You will be so missed by the animals and the people you also treated with kindness. RIP Dr. Schmidt.

Madeline & the Chin family extend condolences to the Schmidt family. Madeline was adopted from a shelter & she came to us with severe cataracs. Because Dr Karl was willing to accept her as his patient, she is living a wonderful life & she sees everything now! May you all find solace in knowing how many animals & families he helped with his devotion to his calling here on earth...& I am sure the animals in heaven are now happy to have him around! Rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to the Schmidt family. I just found out of his passing. He took such great care of my husky Max. You can't even tell Max had eye surgery. He was so caring and would make jokes when Max would howl super loud in his office that you could not hear anything else. What a great loss to the community.

Karl was just a very special man. So compassionate. We met when Lucky was diagnosed with glaucoma. She needed surgery, I was so scared but Karl knew I just needed a hug, he hugged me a promised everything would be ok. We bacame such close friends when I asked him about boarding Lucky when I had to go outvoted town he insisted on taking her home with him. He was truely not the average doctor. My heart goes out to family. The world has lost an angel.

I met Dr. Schmidt when my pug developed severe eye problems. It was a VERY traumatic time for me, and he really made all the difference in the world getting me and my puppy through it. This is such sad news...but he will be fondly remembered every time I look at my sweet, smiling pug. He was a wonderful advocate for animals in the South Florida community.

My deepest condolences to the Schmidt family. So many of us here in South Florida came to know and adore him. He was a wonderful, caring doctor unlike anything I've ever seen. His dedication and deep love he had for the animals was something I'll never forget. When he performed eye surgery on my cat, Karl wanted to watch him closely and actually took my cat home with him, so he could monitor him throughout the night.
He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Hopefully you can find some comfort in knowing how many people's (and animal's) lives he touched in a wonderful way.

I'm deeply saddened as he was a wonderful animal advocate not to mention brilliant surgeon. When I met him I thought it only appropriate he was a opthamologist with his beautiful eyes. He will forever be remembered for his excellence in helping way to many to count with their pets vision.

I first met Karl about 3 years ago when I brought my dog to him for his eye issues. He was incredibly kind and I loved him immediately. He preformed eye surgery and after the surgery he explained to me what I needed to do for the next week. By the look on my face he knew that I was not going to be able to do what was needed. So he said don't worry about bring him back each day and I'll clean the eyes and the stitches. My girlfriend just asked me for his name and that is how I came across this saddening news. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a kind and talented man and will be truely missed. May he rest in peace and be surrounded by all the animals in heaven.
