FORT WORTH -- Katherine "Sugar" Mays Phillips, 82, found peace in Heaven on Monday, January 28, 2013.

Katherine was born and raised in Fort Worth and has family all over Texas. She retired from Tarrant County Public Health Department and also worked as a nanny the latter part of her life. She loved God. She was crazy about animals. Had many friends and was loyal to the people she loved. Sugar always had words of encouragement for anyone with time to listen. She will be missed dearly by so many.
Survivors: Son, Tommy Mays(Sr) and wife, Sylvia; grandchildren, Sandra Ayala, Jolanta Mays, Tommy Mays(Jr), Daniel Mays and wife Jennifer; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
