Keith George Baribeau, 84, of Duluth, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Essentia St. Mary's Hospice. He was born to Raymond and Olga Baribeau in Ely, MN in 1929. He grew up in Duluth and graduated from Duluth Central High School. During high school he was involved in athletics and was a member of the State Championship Alpine Ski Team and recognized as the individual Slalom State Champion.
Following graduation, Keith served in the U.S. Air Force and later retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Keith was united in marriage to Rosemary Cunningham on February 1, 1964; they resided in Duluth where they raised their four children. He was an avid skier, hunter and fisherman and a member of the Arrowhead Flyfishers' Club and Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Keith was a lover of nature, animals, and the outdoors; he especially cherished his time at Burntside Lake.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary in 2010; brother, Don; and stepfather, Walter Jesse.
Keith is survived by his children, Jean (John) Thoennes, Rosemary (Mike) Umland, Melinda Baribeau, and John Baribeau; nine grandchildren, Joe, Sarah, Lisa, Alison, Brittny, Ian, Kate, Brandon, and Emily; and one great-granddaughter, Jey. He is further survived by other beloved relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 410 North Arlington Ave. Visitation Friday, July 19, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Bell Brothers Jarvi Dowd, 925 E 4th St and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment at Bethany Cemetery.
