Keith Calvin Havens

June 22, 1938 - January 12, 2010
Keith Calvin Havens was born June 22, 1938 in Waubay, South Dakota to Ray and Ann Havens. A long-time resident of Oxnard, he ended his struggle with cancer in the early hours of Jan. 12, 2010.

During the 1940's the Havens family moved from South Dakota to Vallejo, CA where Keith did most of his schooling. He graduated from Vallejo Junior College with an Associate of Arts degree in 1959, and after working at Mare Island for a year, attended San Jose State University, where in1962 he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.

After school he went into the US Army into the staff and faculty battery, finishing his tour of duty in 1964 with an honorable discharge. After working a short time for Union Oil and Lockheed, in 1966 he took a job at Point Mugu as a computer programmer where he remained until he retired in 1992.

In April 1969 he married Nancy Jeffries. They later divorced. Keith was a long-time member of the Lion's Club and the American Legion.

Keith Havens is survived by: his daughters Beth Havens of Oxnard, and Heather Havens-Beardsley, and her husband Brent Beardsley, of Chicago, Ill.; his granddaughters Susan Havens, with her husband T. Michael Keesey of Glendale, and Nicole Finley, with her husband Matthew, of Louisville, Ky.; his great-grandchildren, Penelope and Sofia Finley; his brother David Havens of Oxnard, with whom he lived for the last 32 years; his sister Diane Nash, and her husband John Nash of Chandler, Texas; his sister Mary Watts, and her husband Charley Watts of Las Vegas, Nev.; his sister Virginia Boultinghouse of Vallejo; and his many nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at the James A Reardon funeral home at 511 North 'A' Street in Oxnard on Saturday the 23 of January 2010, beginning at 10 a.m., with a reception to follow.
