Lanie Atkins, 82, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2010. She was born on September 11, 1928 in Laurinburg, NC to her parents the late Arthur and Bessie Stokes. Lanie was a loving mother and grandmother who brought joy to everyone.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: sons Todd Atkins and his wife Kim, of Cary NC, Ed Atkins and his wife Shannon, of Parkersburg, WV, and her daughter Donna Mullins of Bel Aire, OH. She will also be missed by her grandchildren: Casey, Heather, Bill, Ryan, Dylan, Hannah and Katelyn; her 3 great grandchildren and her sisters Ali Simon and Bea Mullins and her husband Jack.
Lanie was predeceased by her husband Edgar Atkins, her son William "Bill", and her sister Ruby Abrams.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
