LaVerne Tate Ables, 87, of Hixson passed away on Saturday, December 03, 2011.
She was born in Laager, TN and had lived most of her life in the Chattanooga area.
She was retired from J.C. Penney and Sears.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her son, Gilbert H. "Joe" Birdwell.
Survivors are a sister, Dola C. Sissom and a brother, Harley C. Tate both of Gruetli Laager, TN; special nieces, Nancy Ables and Bobbie White both of Hixson, TN; special friends, Betty and Bobby Legg, LuAnne and Tony Reavley and MaKinzie all of Sale Creek, TN; Steven and Lisa Legg of Dalton.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday and from 1 until 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Services will be held 3:00 Monday, December 5, 2011 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Retirees of J.C. Penney and Sears will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
