Dean Anderson, 77, of Abilene, went to be with the Lord, on September 5, 2010, at a local hospital.
Dean was born in Corsicana, Texas on July 30, 1933 to Willie Anderson and Johnnie Anderson McLamore, and moved to Abilene at the age of 10. He married Nova Doris Sparks on February 14, 1953 in Abilene. Dean worked as a car painter for Quality Body Works and Arrow Ford for many years. He opened and ran his own Body Shop until he retired in 1993. His family and friends considered him the best painter in Abilene, while he was working. Dean loved to spend time with his family; loved camping and old cars; and enjoyed spending time with his friends. His life revolved around his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nova Doris Anderson; and three sisters, Wanda Roberts, Marie Gipson, and Bertha Wheeler.
Dean is survived by three sons, Willie Anderson of Abilene, David Anderson and wife, Judy, of Potosi, and Dwight Anderson and wife, Darlene, of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Vickie Anderson of Austin, Texas and Ramona Tatum and husband, Larry, of Abilene; a brother, Harlen McLamore and wife, Delores, of Abilene; a sister-in-law, Jan Sparks of Potosi; grandchildren, Carmen and Cody Harris, Courtney and Ruth Parker, Cody Anderson, Michelle and Cory Cochran, Justin White, Joshua Anderson, Adam and Jessica Lenius, April Lamb and Cash, Chris, Aaron, and Jeffery Tatum; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Gage, Ashlyn, Brody, Gracyn, Jordan, Jayden, Jaxton, Levi, Asia, Ethan, Madeline, Stephanie, Christopher, Infiniti, Destini, Aubrey, and Anthony; and he was very fond of his numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Community Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 N. 2nd St. Abilene, TX, with Pastor Paul Billiet officiating. Burial will follow in Potosi Cemetery, directed by Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 North 2nd, Abilene. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin White, Cody Harris, Adam Lenius, Bill Roberts, David Tomas, and Matt Thomas. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
There will be a meal served at Ranchouse Fellowship Cowboy Church, Wimberly Road, Merkel, Texas after the service.
The family would like for friends to drive their custom cars.
The family will be at 909 Hailey.
