LEON ERNEST HENDERSHOT, 94, of Duluth, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, July 13, 2013.
He was born in Staples, MN on July 28, 1918 to Laura and Ernest Hendershot.
Leon married Iona Gerhardson on July 10, 1942; they were married for 58 years.
Leon served his country during WWII and received a Purple Heart. He worked as Carman for DWP Railroad, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed fishing and doing carpentry work. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Leon was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iona; parents, Ernest and Laura; sisters, Margaret, Mildred, Rosemary; and brother, Raymond.
Leon is survived by his daughter, Diane (John) Maher; son, Daniel (Joan) Hendershot; grandchildren, Bryan Stenberg, Lisa (Jon) Pease, Amy (Roger) Antonich; great grandchildren, Danielle, Sarah, Ashley, Jacob, and Abby Stenberg, Jalen, Jordan, and Josie Antonich, Cameron and Ellie Pease; and many nieces and nephews.
