Gastonia – Leon Worley, 84, passed away January 25, 2013 at White Oak Manor.
A native of Clay County, he was the son of the late Harley and Carrie Worley.
Mr. Worley was a United States Army veteran and member of Yorkwood Church of God. He was chairman of the board of licensed ministers in NC, trustee for the Church of God and served on the school board.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Bradshaw Worley; sons, Terry Leon Worley, Randall David Worley and wife Penny; sister, Annette Garner; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Lois Worley; son, Mark Anthony Worley; and 6 brothers.
A funeral service will be held 4pm Sunday in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia with Pastor Larry Stephens and Pastor Joel Shirley officiating.
Burial will be private at Salisbury National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
