A lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, Leonard W. Aldaz, 59, entered into eternal rest in the presence of his lord on November 21, 2012 with his family and friends at his side.
He was born in Monte Vista, CO to Alfred and Amelia Aldaz and grew up in Colorado Springs. A graduate of Palmer High school, he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and earned a Bachelors degree from The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Leonard went on to earn a Master's degree from and completed coursework in pursuit of a Juris Doctorate at the University of Iowa.
His father, Alfred, brothers Dennis and Carl, and sister Edith precede Leonard in death. He is survived by his mother Amelia (Abachiche), daughter, Alea Marie Simpkins (Travis), son, Adam Dominic, and his granddaughter LillyAnna. Leonard grew up one of eight siblings and is also survived by sisters, Nadine Solis, Frieda Romero (Dan), Jeanine Martinez (Leonardo), and Carla; many nieces and nephews, friends, and business associates.
Leonard was a strong, caring man of faith that enjoyed life to the fullest. He could always be counted on to brighten a darkened day, help those in need, and to crack a joke that would keep his friends laughing until they cried. Some of his favorite things were assisting young athletes achieve their potential whether on the football field or on the wrestling mat; Being an active voice for those who were less fortunate or without the privilege to speak for themselves; and cheering on his favorite teams which included the Denver Broncos, the Colorado Buffaloes, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Colorado Spring Rippers.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 West Colorado Avenue, from 5:00 pm with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Sacred Heart. Interment will immediately follow. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade, Ave.
