Lisa Kay Dyess Burnett was born February 18, 1956 to John Douglas and Jeanene Dyess in Midland, Texas. Lisa went to be with the Lord on June 26,2013. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Dominic and Kathryn Traversie; her father John Douglas Dyess, a nephew, a sister-in-law and several aunts and uncles. In 1995 Lisa and Robert Burnett were united in holy matrimony. Lisa was previously employed by the Us. Postal Service as a Mail Carrier and as a Sales Clerk for Zales.Corp., J C. Penney and Dunlaps. Lisa was a great joy to be around. She wouldn't turn away anyone if they had a need (this even included abandoned animals). Lisa displayed her musical talent as a singer and she also played the Guitar, Banjo and Mandolin. Lisa was a friend, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, a daughter and a loving wife. We will all miss her. She had a great sense of humor and always found a way to make you laugh no matter what you were going through.
Lisa is survived by her husband of 18 years, Robert D. Burnett, Jr.; her mother Jeanene Dyess, her brother Terry Dyess (Judith) of Edgewood, New Mexico; 2 sons, John Smith (Stacy) and Houston (Amanda) of Midland; 2 Step-daughters, Melloney Burnett of Arlington and Latrecia Jordan (Kenney) of Denton, Texas; 4 Step-sons, Robert Bills (JoAnn) of Midland; Brent Burnett (Annette) of South Bendbrook, New Jersey; Patrick Hughes (Mary) of Little Elm, Texas and Wesley Burnett (LeAnn) of Prosper, Texas; Sister-in-law Carol Vaughn of Midland; Grandchildren Haley, Jeremy, Houston, Jr. and Shelby of Midland; 12 Step- grandchildren; 2 Great grandsons; 1 Step-great grandson; Extended Family Ross and Norma Anderson of Lovington, New Mexico; Raymond and Aracely Sanchez; Boogie Grissom; Jack Tyson; Annie Faison; Sue Morris and a host of cousins and other relatives.
Funeral Services will be Monday, July 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Viewing will be Sunday at the Ellis Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
