Lloyd George Beam
COLUMBIA - Funeral services for Lloyd George Beam, 80,
will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with interment in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the funeral home chapel.
Mr. Beam was born February 22, 1932 in Polk County, NC and passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013. He was a son of the late Charlie Lawrence Beam and Florence Turner Beam. He was a 1950 graduate of Fairforest High School, Spartanburg, SC and attended Columbia Commercial College from 1950 to 1954. Mr. Beam joined the United States Air Force on October 2, 1950 and retired on July 1, 1971. He was assigned to the 103rd U.S.A.F Auditor General Group (HG Comm.U.S.F). He was employed with the City of Columbia, Finance Department from September, 1971 to March 1987.
Mr. Beam is survived by his wife, Joyce Ramsey Beam; children, Diana Pasta and Karen M. Merriam both of Oldsmar, FL; step daughter, Denise L. Wilburn of Bruceton Mills, WV; step son, Christopher B. Moss of West Columbia; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews;. sisters, Johnnie Harris of Rutherfordton, NC and Jessie Jones, of West Columbia, SC. Mr. Beam was predeceased by sisters, Ethel Fite and Willie M. Melton and brothers, Otho and Roscoe Beam.
