Lloyd C. Oman, 79, of DuBois lost his courageous battle with cancer November 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He loved life and helping others and was a very caring man. Lloyd was an advid card player and enjoyed cooking, baking, and building things. He was a master craftsman and built his home from the ground up that he shared with his adoring wife, Anna Mae (Lazoni) Oman, whom he married on July 30, 1993. They shared years of love and enjoyed their life together. She survives.
Lloyd served in the United States Air Force First- class during the Korean War 1952-1956. He worked at Bauman's plumbing and heating, Renick Brothers Construction, RD Goss and Miller and Son plumbing and heating; as a trade plumber and pipe fitter, estimator and project manager and taught plumbing school.
He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, American Legion and Garfield Lodge.
Lloyd was born on April 8, 1934 in Brynedale, PA. He was the son of the late Carl and Marie (Smith) Oman. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Oman, sister, Helen Hodge, brother, Harold Oman and niece, Kathy Oman.
He is survived by his four children: Clifford Oman of Grove City, OH, Karen and her husband David Richards of Berwick, PA, Mark and his wife Renee Oman of Hummelstown, PA and Stacey and her husband Kenny Sherwood II of DuBois; grandchildren: Kenneth and his wife Ashton Richards, Kevin and Matthew Richards, Josh and Ashley Oman, Chebly and Kendall Sherwood, Janelle and Allyson Oman; step-children: Rick and his wife Michelle Lanzoni, Ed and his wife Beth Lanzoni and Paul and his wife Colleen Lanzoni; step grandchildren: Kathleen and her husband William Kinnan, Morgan, Lucas, Vincent, Franklin, Joshua and Cassandra. Step great-grandchildren: Joel and Lily Shae; sister-in-law, Edith Oman, nephew, Carl Oman, nieces, Christine Goodman, Cindy Gannon and Susan and her husband Charles ManTella, great niece Nicole ManTella. Lloyd also leaves behind a very close knit group of friends including: Dale and Crem DeLarme and Betty and Mel Bimel; Lloyd is also survived by his former wife Bernice Oman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Mohney Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc., 142 West Long Ave., DuBois, PA 15801., with Rev Phil Colgan officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post #813 at the cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm on Thursday, November 7, at Mohney Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc., an additional hour of viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00am until the hour of service. A masonic memorial service will be held at 2:00pm by the Garfield Lodge #559 F&A.M.
