Lois Jean Roberts Peppers, age 79, of Athens, GA, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012. She was an active and longtime member of Statham First Baptist Church. Jean enjoyed crafts, ceramics, traveling, and going to church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Leonard and Grace Whitehead Roberts; and a daughter, Cheryl Marie Peppers. Survivors include her son, Robbie K. Peppers of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Glenda Roberts (Don) Eades of Bogart, GA and Dale (Jim) Conglose of Athens; a granddaughter, Tracy Marie Peppers of Port Charlotte, FL; two grandsons, J.J. Hanson of Suffolk, VA and Stephen Hanson of South Boston, VA; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Midge Peppers of Port Charlotte. Jean is also survived by her caregivers, Sandra Washington, Joy King, Betty Bowles, and Cathy Epps. A visitation was held at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, GA, on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 6-9 PM. The funeral service was held in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Kenneth Bennett and Reverend Gordon Thornton officiating. The interment followed the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens, Winder. Donations may be made to Statham First Baptist Church, 1914 Broad Street, Statham, GA 30666.
