Louis (Lou) Mealer, 80 of Odessa passed away July 2, 2014 in Odessa. He was born July 4, 1933 to Claude and Esther Mealer in Honduras. He was a career military man serving his country for 20 years. He retired from the USAF as a Senior Master Sergeant. After retiring from the military, he worked in real estate.
He married Linda Dooley in 1975. The highlight of each summer was spent traveling to Las Vegas, where Lou enjoyed gambling until the wee hours of the morning and the wonderful food they would find at many different restaurants. He also loved visiting his family in New Orleans and made several trips to Mardi Gras. He loved being with people, especially at family get-togethers. A July 4 BBQ followed by fireworks was always a special occasion.
He was very active at St. Mary's Church in his younger years. He was a main organizer at the Tuesday night Bingo Fundraisers. He was also an avid dog lover having several furry "children" in his lifetime. Wednesday afternoons you would find Lou and his favorite golf buddy, Bill Pollard…if he wasn't mad at his partner for losing at Conasta on Friday night.
Family will receive friends Sunday July 6, 2014 from 6-7pm at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors. The rosary will follow at 7pm.
A funeral mass will be Monday, July 7, 2014 at 10am at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton with Father Mark Woodruff officiating.
