Louis J. Piacenta, 75 years old, of Venice, FL formerly of East Hartford, CT died peacefully with his family at his side on May 21, 2012.
Visitation will be 6-8pm, with a prayer service held at 7pm, Thursday, May 31st at Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue East Hartford, CT 06108.
Memorial Mass will be 11am, Friday at St. Christopher's Catholic Church 538 Brewer St East Hartford, CT 06118 with inurnment following at Silver Lane Cemetery, 1312 Silver Lane, East Hartford, CT 06118.
Lou is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Anita Piacenta; daughter Leslie Fiorey, son-in-law Robert Fiorey, daughter Karen Piacenta, daughter Linda Whittaker; granddaughters, Rachel Piacenta and Nicole Fiorey; and 4 sisters; 3 brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by 1 brother and 3 sisters.
He was a dedicated East Hartford Police Officer for 25 years. Lou served as the president of Police Benevolent Association and was a life time member of the Elks Club. He retired from the FDIC 10 years ago.
Lou loved spending time with his family and enjoyed long walks on the beach. He had a great sense of humor that touched everyone who came in contact with him. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
