Loula “Brownie” Brown McEntire, age 88, passed away on August 4, 2013. A native of Sweetwater, TN, Brownie graduated from Baronee Erlanger Hospital School of Nursing in Chattanooga, TN and moved to Georgia to work on the nursing staff at Lawson Veterans Hospital, Chamblee, GA. In 1952, she married Felton Arless McEntire, had two children and was widowed at the age of 32. Brownie was then employed as a Registered Nurse through the Visiting Nurses Association and worked all over the Atlanta area. She retired at the age of 62. After her retirement Brownie underwent treatment for and survived breast cancer. Brownie was a member of Brookhaven United Methodist Church and attended the Optimist Sunday School Class. She was Historian for the Hillsdale Neighborhood Association and was also a member of the Eastern Star. Brownie was a world traveler and went on tours to Europe and Israel. She loved her church and neighborhood, her children and grandchildren, her pets, family gatherings and vacations to St. George Island. Brownie is survived by her children, Felton (Zelda) McEntire, Jr., Carol (Michael) McEntire Rodock; grandchildren, Kai McEntire, Tyler Rhoades, Ted Lee, David Rodock, Leanne Rodock, and Stephanie Rodock. She was predeceased by her husband, Felton Arless McEntire. Funeral services will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill Chapel on Saturday, August 10 at 1 PM. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
